Philippians 2:12-13: “Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed—not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence—continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you to will and to act according to His good purpose.”
TL;DR: Life brings challenges, but God works within us to align our will with His good purpose. Face life’s struggles with courage and integrity, trusting Him to guide your steps and empower you to try again.
Life is full of opportunities to try again, and with God working in us, we can face challenges with renewed hope and determination. Paul’s words in Philippians 2:12-13 remind us to live with integrity, striving to align our actions with God’s purpose. This means doing what’s right—not just for recognition, but because it honors Him.
As a recovering alcoholic, I know the weight of hiding struggles. For years, I was a closet drinker, burying my pain and avoiding accountability. In recovery, there’s a powerful saying: “Our secrets keep us sick.” Whether it’s grumbling in private, indulging in hidden behaviors, or refusing to face reality, these secrets prevent us from fully embracing the freedom God offers.
Taking responsibility for our actions is crucial. When we avoid accountability, we’re more likely to repeat unwanted behaviors. But by facing life on life’s terms—with honesty and humility—we can break free from these patterns and move closer to God’s purpose for our lives.
The good news is, God works in us, empowering us to will and act according to His plan. Even when we stumble, He offers grace and strength to help us stand back up and try again. This is the essence of faith: trusting that His power is made perfect in our weakness.
Today, be encouraged to face life head-on. Don’t let setbacks or secrets hold you back. Trust in God’s grace, take responsibility for your actions, and try again. Each new effort brings you closer to the freedom and purpose He has for you.
May you walk in His strength and find joy in every step forward!
