Don’t Look Back: Put Your Hand to the Plow and Move Forward

Luke 9:62:
“Jesus replied, ‘No one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is fit for service in the kingdom of God.’”

TL;DR: The past is over. If you dwell on regrets and “what ifs,” you miss the beauty of the present. Be thankful for where God has you today and keep moving forward.

The past is the past.

I have plenty of moments I would love a redo on.

It’s true what they say—hindsight is 20/20.

But every choice, every mistake, every lesson learned has led me to my here and now—and my here and now is good.

If I start to wallow in “what ifs,” my present moment loses its brightness.

Luke 9:62 is a powerful reminder that if we are constantly looking back, we are not fully engaged in the work God has for us today.

The key for me to stay present in the moment is to be thankful for what is, regardless of what was.

  • God is doing something new—don’t miss it by looking back.

  • Your past does not define you—God’s grace does.

  • Move forward with faith, keeping your eyes on Jesus.

What are you still looking back on?

Let it go.

Put your hand to the plow, trust God’s plan, and keep moving forward.
