Have you shrunk back lately? I have.
I often think of myself as confident in Christ, but if I’m being honest, I’m sometimes a coward. I’ve caught myself saying a silent prayer in restaurants instead of inviting everyone to pray. Even in my own home, I sometimes hesitate when others aren’t in the habit of praying.
When I read Hebrews 10:39, I was struck by how easily compromise creeps in. It happens in small ways—going along with gossip, chuckling at inappropriate conversations, or getting swept up in materialism, pride, or comparison. These are the everyday ways we shrink back instead of standing firm in Christ.
Jeremiah 17 reminds us that it’s not about being people pleasers—it’s about being God pleasers. Most mornings, I set my heart to walk that out, but the world’s pull is strong. Fear of judgment, discomfort, or just plain habit can cause us to coward to sin instead of standing boldly in grace.
But the truth is, we were not made to shrink back. We are made to believe boldly, love deeply, and walk confidently in Jesus.
So today, let’s rise up.
Let’s be bold in our prayer, bold in our convictions, and bold in our love.
Let’s champion faith, not compromise in fear.
God’s Spirit in you is greater than anything in this world.
