Do Good and Never Give Up: Reaping a Harvest of Faith

Galatians 6:7-10
“Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. The one who sows to please his sinful nature will reap destruction; the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.”

TL;DR:

Life is a harvest. When we sow to the Spirit, we reap peace and eternal life. Keep doing good—even when it’s hard—and never give up, for in God’s timing, the harvest will come.

Seek first to be holy, then act accordingly.

We are all sinful, and each of us wrestles with different struggles at different times. That’s why encouragement from fellow believers is so important. When my friends share Scripture with me, it shifts my focus from my flesh back to the Spirit, and suddenly peace replaces chaos.

When I chase the desires of my flesh, I feel myself spiraling into a downhill pattern. But when I sow into the Spirit—praying, reading God’s Word, serving others—I find strength, stability, and joy.

This is a constant battle, but Galatians reminds us: “Let us not become weary in doing good.” Even when it feels unnoticed, even when it’s exhausting, even when we want to quit—keep going. At the right time, God promises a harvest.

One of the best ways I’ve found to snap out of a bad attitude is to intentionally shift my focus to what is good. Gratitude, kindness, service—these things sow peace into my soul. So today, as you have opportunity, do good to others and to yourself. Never give up!
