Fake It Till You Make It: Rejoice Until Your Heart Catches Up

Philippians 4:4–7, 11

“Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near.
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus…
I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances.”

TL;DR:

You may not feel joyful — rejoice anyway. Gratitude shifts your heart. Contentment grows as you trust God with what is, not what you wish could be.

Sometimes rejoicing feels impossible.
When you’re staring at what seems missing…
When anxiety is tightening around your thoughts…
When your heart simply isn’t in a “praise” mood…

Rejoice anyway.

Not because you feel it — but because God is worthy of it.
Not because everything is perfect — but because He is near.
Not because life looks how you hoped — but because He is giving you every good gift and withholding what would harm you.

Paul didn’t say, “Rejoice when it’s easy.”
He said, “Rejoice in the Lord always.”

Sometimes you really do have to fake it till you make it — not as pretending, but as choosing.
Choosing gratitude.
Choosing praise.
Choosing to see the blessings that are actually there.
Choosing contentment in the moment you’re in.

And something amazing happens:

When you intentionally rejoice, your heart eventually shifts.
When you turn anxiety into prayer, peace shows up.
When you stop striving and start thanking, contentment grows.

There is always — always — something to be thankful for.

Rejoice in the Lord always… again I say, rejoice.
Even if you start by faking it — He will meet you, and joy will follow.
