Forward in Faith: Letting Go of the Past to Embrace God’s Promise

Hebrews 11:6, 15–16, 25
“And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him.”
“If they had been thinking of the country they had left, they would have had opportunity to return. Instead, they were longing for a better country—a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for He has prepared a city for them.”
“He chose to be mistreated along with the people of God rather than to enjoy the passing pleasures of sin for a short time.”

TL;DR:
Faith means trusting God enough to stop looking back and courageously move forward into what He has prepared for you.

Faith is not just belief—it is trust in action. You are called to believe that God exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him. When your heart drifts back to what is familiar, even when it was painful or sinful, you lose your ability to fully embrace the future God is offering you.

Looking back keeps you stuck. Familiar patterns may feel comfortable, but comfort does not equal freedom. Returning to old ways is never progress—it only keeps you bound to what God already delivered you from. Faith invites you to lift your eyes higher and long for something better, something eternal.

God has prepared a city for you. A future filled with hope, purpose, and His presence. Choosing faith means releasing the passing pleasures of sin and trusting that what God offers is far greater than anything you leave behind.

Today, you are invited to move forward. Stop rehearsing the past. Stop entertaining old temptations. Put on faith and press ahead with confidence. God is not ashamed to call you His own, and He is leading you somewhere better.
