2 Corinthians 5:17, 19, 21
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! … God was reconciling the world to Himself in Christ, not counting men’s sins against them… God made Him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God.”
TL;DR:
Sin may feel fun for a moment, but it always leaves you cold and empty. In Christ, you are forgiven, restored, and made new—so shake it off and walk forward.
You don’t have to teach a child to splash in a mud puddle. It’s just in them. The moment they see water, they jump.
Sin works the same way. It’s in your human nature. The pull feels natural. Sometimes it even feels harmless at first. “It’s just a little splash.”
But splashing turns into soaking.
Soaking turns into shivering.
And suddenly what felt fun leaves you cold and miserable.
You may think you can stay clean because you have “boots on.” You may believe you can manage it. But sin seeps in deeper than you expect. And eventually, it costs you peace.
Here is the beautiful truth: no matter how muddy you are, you are still a new creation in Christ.
Jesus died once and for all your sin—past, present, and future. He already paid for the splash you just took. He already paid for the pattern you thought you had conquered but slipped back into.
So what do you do?
You don’t wallow.
You don’t shame yourself.
You don’t quit.
You shake it off.
You repent.
You accept the forgiveness He already purchased.
You are reconciled. You are not defined by the mud. You are defined by His righteousness.
Even if your sin is fresh, your identity is still new.
Get up. Change clothes. Step back into the light. Walk as the new creation you already are.
