Matthew 23:26, 28
“Blind Pharisees! First clean the inside of the cup and dish, and then the outside also will be clean… In the same way, on the outside you appear to people as righteous but on the inside you are full of hypocrisy and wickedness.”
TL;DR:
True transformation starts on the inside. When your heart is aligned with God, your outward life naturally follows.
Jesus was clear: clean the inside first.
It is easy to polish the outside. You can say the right words. You can look composed. You can appear disciplined, faithful, even righteous. But if your heart is divided, restless, or full of hidden idols, the outside will eventually crack.
In the movie 28 Days, Sandra Bullock’s character had to get her inside aligned before the horse would respond to her. The animal sensed what was real. That truth applies to life as well—people feel authenticity. God certainly sees it.
You need purity of heart.
When you seek God first (Matthew 6:33) with your whole heart, purity follows. Not perfection—but alignment. Not performance—but surrender.
When I quit drinking, I couldn’t just avoid consequences. I had to truly want sobriety. Alcohol could no longer be my refuge. God had to be my God.
Over a lifetime, it’s easy to replace the Creator with created things—success, relationships, comfort, approval, control. That is worship misplaced.
Today, ask God to cleanse the inside. Ask Him to fill you with His Holy Spirit so that you genuinely want what He wants. When Jesus is truly Lord, peace replaces striving. You can accept what you cannot change, change what you can, and trust Him with the rest.
When the inside is clean, the outside reflects it naturally.
Be fit. Be blessed. Walk in purity of heart today.
