Isaiah 1:18
“‘Come now, let us settle the matter,’ says the Lord. ‘Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool.’”2 Corinthians 5:17
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!”
TL;DR:
In Christ, you are fully forgiven and made new. Don’t identify with your sin—identify with His righteousness. Live loved.
You are made brand new.
Not partially forgiven.
Not conditionally accepted.
Not “on probation.”
Fully forgiven. Completely cleansed. White as snow.
Jesus died once for all sin—past, present, and future. That includes the sin you committed yesterday. That includes the one you may struggle with tomorrow.
I remember the first time I sinned after realizing I was forgiven. The shame rushed back in. I felt dirty again. I began identifying with my failure instead of with the righteousness of Jesus Christ.
That’s the trap.
You start defining yourself by your weakness instead of by His finished work.
Until Heaven, you will still wrestle with your human nature. One day, you will be done with sin forever—praise God! But until then, you must continually remind yourself who you are in Christ.
When you stumble:
Shake it off.
Repent.
Turn back.
Try again.
Do not wallow. Do not self-condemn. Accept the forgiveness He already paid for.
You are not your worst moment.
You are not your latest mistake.
You are a new creation.
White as snow.
No matter how unlovable you may feel, your feelings do not determine your identity. God does.
You are forgiven.
You are made new.
You are deeply loved.
Live that way.
Live loved.
