Joshua 1:9
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
TL;DR:
Fear keeps you stuck at the bottom of the hill. Faith gives you courage to rise. God is with you—choose courage.
Yesterday I was coaching snowboarding 🏂.
One young man refused to ride the T-bar. The year before, he had a bad experience, and fear had taken root. Instead of trying again, he walked up the hill—cold, frustrated, exhausted.
I told him, “You have to be courageous. Don’t let your fear ruin your fun.”
He said, “I hate snowboarding.”
Of course he did. Walking uphill, taking boots in and out of bindings, sitting in the snow—it wasn’t fun at all. I gently reminded him that using the lift would change everything.
He didn’t try immediately. But I kept encouraging him. Eventually, he stepped up, grabbed the T-bar—and did it.
He mastered it.
Suddenly he was riding from the top of the mountain. The same boy who asked, “When can I leave?” became one of the last kids on the hill. Joy replaced dread.
Fear had been stealing his fun.
Fear is paralyzing. It keeps you at the bottom when God designed you for the summit.
Joshua 1:9 is not a suggestion—it’s a command. Be strong. Be courageous. Do not be frightened. Why? Because the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.
What “T-bar” are you avoiding today?
What past experience is keeping you stuck?
If God is with you, you can step forward.
Choose faith, not fear.
Step up. Try again.
The top of the mountain is worth it.
