Isaiah 26:3-4
“You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast, because he trusts in you. Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord, the Lord, is the Rock eternal.”
tl;dr
Peace comes when trust replaces second-guessing. Even poor choices can become places where God teaches, restores, and redirects.
Perfect peace.
What a beautiful promise.
I can get myself pretty worked up over decisions I have made. I start playing the “if I would have…” game. If I had chosen differently. If I had said something else. If I had waited. If I had taken another path.
How completely wasteful.
Instead of walking in peace, I become anxious. Instead of trusting God, I mentally rehearse roads I can no longer travel.
What is done is done.
Even when I make a poor choice, God can still work it out for my good. If I learn from poor choices, that is good. Growth often comes through mistakes, not just successes.
Sometimes I repeat the same mistakes. That is when frustration can really take over. I get down on myself. Shame creeps in. Regret gets loud.
But Jesus did not come to save us so we could live in constant torment.
That is not freedom.
Today, when I start playing the “wishing for the path I did not take” game, I will intentionally turn toward Jesus instead. He can take even imperfect paths and redeem them. He can bring peace even in places where there was confusion. He can redirect what feels wasted.
Perfect peace does not come from perfect decision-making. It comes from keeping a steadfast mind fixed on Him.
Let’s keep our feet upon His Rock.
