Live Free! Freedom Isn’t Free!

Romans 6:21
“What benefit did you reap from the things you are now ashamed of? Those things result in death!”

tl;dr
Sin promises freedom but leads to bondage. True freedom is found in Christ, and freedom always comes at a cost.

“What benefit did you reap from the things you are now ashamed of?”

That is a sobering question.

Are there things being toyed with today that would be embarrassing if they were brought into the light? Sin often begins quietly. It whispers that no one will know, no one will be hurt, and there will be no consequences. Yet Scripture reminds us that sin leads to death, not life.

Stop.

Turn toward God and He will provide the strength and courage to leave behind what needs to be left behind and pursue what needs to be pursued.

Sin is enslaving.

Many of us know what it is like to be trapped by habits, behaviors, attitudes, or addictions that promise comfort but ultimately steal peace. The good news is that Jesus came to set captives free. Through His grace, there is forgiveness. Through His power, there is freedom. Through His love, there is hope.

As Memorial Day weekend is observed, there is also a reminder that freedom is never free.

Countless men and women paid the ultimate sacrifice so that freedom could be enjoyed in this beloved country. Their courage, service, and sacrifice deserve gratitude and remembrance.

Jesus also paid the ultimate sacrifice so that freedom from the enslavement of sin could be experienced. Through His death and resurrection, there is freedom to walk in new life.

Live free today.

Be dead to sin and alive in Christ.

Today, there is gratitude for Jesus. Gratitude for those who have served. Gratitude for the brave men and women who have sacrificed for the freedoms that are often taken for granted.

Please join in praying for God’s protection, blessing, and peace upon our beloved military and their families.

Freedom isn’t free.
