Hebrews 13:20-21
“Now may the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, equip you with everything good for doing His will, and may He work in us what is pleasing to Him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.”
tl;dr
Life becomes more peaceful when the focus shifts from self to God. He has already equipped believers to do His will and live for His glory.
“May He…equip you with everything good for doing His will.”
What an incredible promise.
God has not called us to do His will without giving us what we need. He equips us. He strengthens us. He works in us to accomplish what is pleasing to Him.
Sometimes I notice how easily my focus shifts to me.
My plans.
My desires.
My disappointments.
My timetable.
Then I stop and pray.
“Lord, let my day honor You.”
Try this.
Say, “Me, me, me.”
Then say, “You, You, You.”
For me, there is a noticeable difference. Focusing on myself often brings striving, worry, and frustration. Focusing on God brings peace. It reminds me that life is not ultimately about what I want but about what He is doing in and through me.
My prayer is not to be pleasing to myself.
My prayer is to be pleasing to God.
When the focus changes from “me” to “You,” my perspective changes as well. I become more thankful, more trusting, and more willing to follow His leading, even when it is different from what I had planned.
Today, may this simple prayer guide the heart:
“Lord, let my day honor You.”
He has equipped each of us with everything good for doing His will.
Try making “You, You, You” the focus today.
