Let the Lord Fight for You: Finding Strength and Sobriety Through Faith

2 Chronicles 20:15 “He said: ‘Listen, King Jehoshaphat and all who live in Judah and Jerusalem! This is what the Lord says to you: Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army. For the battle is not yours, but God’s.'”

TL;DR: You were never meant to fight your hardest battles alone. Whether you are struggling with addiction, sobriety, or any overwhelming challenge, God is ready to step in and fight for you when you let Him lead.

The battle is not yours, but God’s. What a perspective shift that is. For me, overcoming alcohol addiction and maintaining sobriety has required putting the Lord first, every single day. I know that if I ever pick up again, booze becomes my God and I lose everything. That may sound extreme to those who are not alcoholic, but for those of us who are, it is all too real.

Here is the good news: letting God fight your battles is not a sign of weakness. It is one of the most powerful moves you can make. When I am in the middle of any struggle, it helps me to remember that I am not fighting alone. The Lord is right there, fighting for me.

Whatever you are facing today, whether it is addiction and recovery, fear, anxiety, or something that just feels too big to carry, you do not have to white-knuckle your way through it. Trusting God in hard times changes everything. It shifts your focus from the size of the battle to the size of the One fighting on your behalf.

I hope that truth encourages you today. Finding strength through faith is not just a nice idea. It is something you can stand on. Be strong in the battle.
