Love Even When You Don’t Feel Like It: Choosing Unconditional Love the Way Jesus Did

John 15:12 “My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.”

TL;DR: Loving others the way Jesus loves us means loving people as they are, not as we wish they were. Even when it is hard, choosing love over anger and resentment is exactly what we are called to do.

Do you love others the way Jesus loves? It is worth taking an honest look at how you think about the people around you. Is it genuinely loving? Or do you find yourself harboring anger and resentment when things do not go the way you think they should?

Today, let yourself be inspired to practice unconditional love for others — not because people are who you want them to be, but because Jesus commands it. That is a powerful distinction. Loving people as they are, rather than waiting until they meet your expectations, is one of the most freeing things you can do for yourself and for them.

It also helps to remember this: you can love a person without approving of their behavior. Those two things are not the same. In fact, the people who are the hardest to love are usually the ones who need love and compassion the most. Showing love to difficult people is not weakness — it is one of the most Christlike things you can choose to do.

So today, lead with a pure heart and a faith-centered mindset. Not because it is always easy, but because we are called to it.
