Proverbs 14:22 “Do not those who plot evil go astray? But those who plan what is good find love and faithfulness.”
TL;DR: When we spend our energy plotting for destructive desires, we go astray and poison the life we could be living. But when we intentionally plan for good and seek God first, He fills our lives with real love and faithfulness.
When I was an addict, I would plot how to get my alcohol and how to keep my addiction secret. It was an all-consuming frame of thinking. It was an evil desire that made me go astray. I hated it, but I couldn’t let it go for years.
Today I recognize how deeply it poisoned my life and hurt my children. That kind of destructive thinking and hidden shame has a way of reaching into every corner of your world before you even realize it.
Today, I try my best to plan what is good even when it’s hard. My life is infinitely better when I first seek the Lord and His righteousness. It is truly filled with love and faithfulness — not because of me, but because of Him.
If you are in a season where your energy is going toward plotting for harmful desires, you are not stuck there. You can turn around. Overcoming destructive habits through faith is not just possible — it is the very thing God promises when we choose to plan for good instead.
Today, be inspired to honestly recognize where your mind and plans are focused, and take one step toward faith-centered living. The love and faithfulness waiting on the other side are worth it.
