Wait on God: Finding Peace and Trusting His Timing When Anxiety Takes Over

Psalm 46:10 “Be still and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”

TL;DR: Letting go of control is hard, but trusting God’s timing brings a peace that anxiety never can. Bring your requests to Him in prayer, wait patiently, and know that what He has for you will be good.

Be still. Know He is God.

Easier said than done, right? This is genuinely hard for me. I like things the way I want them, when I want them. And if you can relate, you already know what that kind of thinking costs you: anxiety and worry show up almost every time life refuses to cooperate with your timeline.

The truth is, things are rarely exactly when and where we want them. But here is what I keep coming back to: accepting life as it is and knowing that everything is under His control actually gives me peace. Real peace. Not the kind you have to manufacture or talk yourself into, but the kind that just settles in when you stop fighting for the wheel.

Today, instead of spiraling, let’s choose to be anxious for nothing. Let’s bring our needs to God through prayer and petition, lay them out honestly, and then let the peace of God fill our hearts as we wait on Him. Not white-knuckling it through the wait, but actually trusting that His answer is coming and that His timing is better than ours.

Trusting God’s timing is a practice. Some days it comes naturally. Other days it takes everything you have. But the more you lean into it, the more you find that what He has planned is worth the wait.

Trust. Wait. And know that what will be, will be good.
