Esther 7:9-10 “Then Harbona, one of the eunuchs attending the king said, ‘A gallows seventy five feet high stands by Haman’s house. He had it made for Mordecai, who spoke up to help the king.’ The king said, ‘Hang him on it!’ So they hanged Haman on the gallows he had prepared for Mordecai. Then the king’s fury subsided.”
TL;DR: Hatred and unforgiveness don’t hurt the person you’re holding them against — they hurt you. The story of Haman is a powerful reminder that letting go of bitterness and trusting God’s plan is always the better path.
Haman built a gallows to destroy someone else, and in the end, it destroyed him. That is what hatred and unforgiveness do. They are not weapons aimed outward — they turn inward, quietly doing damage to the one carrying them.
You may have heard the phrase: unforgiveness is like drinking poison and hoping the other person will die. It is one of the truest things ever said about bitterness. The person who wronged you may be sleeping just fine at night. Meanwhile, the hatred is eating away at you.
If you are carrying any unforgiveness in your heart today, let it go. Not because the other person deserves it, but because you deserve to be free. Holding onto it will destroy you from the inside out.
Releasing bitterness and choosing forgiveness is not weakness — it is one of the hardest and most courageous things a person can do. It is also one of the most faith-driven. Trusting God’s plan means believing He sees what you cannot, and that He is working in ways you may not understand yet.
Learn to be content in all things. Trust that God has a plan — even in the painful moments, even when it does not make sense. He does. And He is faithful.
