Today marks the 25th anniversary of 9/11. A day that changed everything. Where were you on 9/11/2001?
Most of us remember the exact moment we saw the first plane hit the tower. We remember the silence, the shock, the grief, and the anger that followed. Those images are burned into memory in a way that doesn’t fade.
What does seem to be fading, though, is the resolve that came after. It’s hard to process that instead of standing firm against the threat that attacked us, so much of our culture has moved toward accommodating it. The rapid expansion of political and religious influence from the very ideology behind that attack — that troubles me deeply. And I don’t think I’m alone in that.
Somehow “don’t be Islamophobic” became louder than “stand up for God and country.” That shift is something I struggle to make peace with, especially on a day like today.
Romans 7:16 cuts right to the heart of it. When we stop resisting and start accommodating — when we go quiet out of cultural pressure or spiritual timidity — we risk becoming slaves to the very thing we should be standing against. That is a form of spiritual slavery the Bible is clear about.
This 25th anniversary is a heavy one. But it is also a reminder. A call to courageous Christian faith — not the kind that shouts, but the kind that does not shrink. The kind that chooses faith not fear, every single time.
Don’t go quiet in your faith today. Stand up for Jesus. Stand up for truth. That is exactly what this day deserves.
