Are You a Good Teammate in Christ?

2 Timothy 1:7
“For God did not give us the spirit of timidity, but the spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline…”

2 Timothy 2:16
“Avoid godless chatter, because those who indulge in it will become more and more ungodly…”

2 Timothy 2:22–23
“Flee the evil desires of youth, pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart. 23 Don’t have anything to do with foolish and stupid arguments, because you know they produce quarrels.”

TL;DR:

You are not called to walk alone. Surround yourself with faith-filled teammates who help you pursue righteousness, speak with love, and build up others—not tear them down.

Are you a good teammate? A good friend? A good member of the body of Christ?

God didn’t give us a timid spirit—He gave us one of power, love, and self-discipline. When we surround ourselves with people who uplift, encourage, and remind us of God’s truth, we thrive. When we engage in gossip, foolish arguments, or godless chatter, we grow further from His heart.

One of the things I treasure most about my Bible study ladies is how sincere and real our conversations are. We talk openly about the Lord and our shared struggles to be all that He’s calling us to be. I find that same spirit with my AA friends too. We build one another up, encourage each other to live with purpose, and try—every day—to live our best life for Jesus.

I like to call these people in my life my teammates. We’re on the same mission—to live with faith, love well, and pursue peace. We’re not perfect, but we’re purposed. And we’re in this together.

Today, take a moment to ask yourself:
Are you a good teammate? Do you help others grow? Do your words reflect love, truth, and the spirit of God?

Let’s be the love of Jesus, think well, speak well, and love well—together.
