Are You a Good Teammate? Strengthening Unity in Team Jesus

Ephesians 4:16:
“From Him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.”

Ephesians 4:2:
“Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.”

TL;DR: We are all part of Team Jesus, called to build each other up in love. Whether in marriages, friendships, families, or the church, unity is essential. Stay humble, patient, and committed to working together.

We are Team Jesus!

When I read Ephesians 4:16, it reminds me that we are not meant to walk this journey alone. Just as every ligament supports the body, we are called to work together, grow in love, and strengthen one another.

Many marriages, friendships, and families struggle because they forget they’re on the same team. Instead of working together, people start seeing each other as opponents rather than partners in faith.

Ephesians 4:2 gives us the key to keeping unity:

Be humble.
Be gentle.
Be patient.
Bear with one another in love.

As a teacher, I see how important it is to be patient and encouraging with those I’m helping. But outside of that role, do I always show that same grace? Am I building others up, or am I tearing them down?

Unity requires intentional effort. It means choosing encouragement over criticism, patience over frustration, and love over pride.

Today, ask yourself: How are you doing at keeping unity on your team? Are you being a good teammate in your family, marriage, friendships, and church?

Let’s commit to working together, lifting each other up, and strengthening Team Jesus.
