Are You Like a Bad Tooth or a Lame Foot?

Proverbs 25:19:
“Like a broken tooth or a lame foot is reliance on the unfaithful in a time of trouble.”

TL;DR: A strong, faithful friend is a blessing in times of trouble. Are you someone others can rely on? Seek friends who follow the Lord, and be that kind of friend yourself.

We can’t expect non-Christians to act like Christians are supposed to act.

Actually, many of us who call ourselves Christians don’t always act as we should either.

When I think about how I should represent Jesus, I remember His words:

“Love others as I have loved you.”

That love is sacrificial, patient, and full of grace.

Jesus loved us so much that while we were still sinners, He:

  • Paid the penalty for all our sins on the cross

  • Gave us His right standing with God

That is amazing grace and divine mercy!

2 Corinthians 5:17 reminds us:

“If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old is gone, the new is here!”

We are called to put off our fleshly desires and walk in purity of heart and love.

This is easy to say, but impossible to do without Jesus.

We all need help and support from time to time.

  • Seek friends who are truly trying to follow the Lord.

  • Be a friend who is truly trying to follow the Lord.

When we live this way, we won’t be like a bad tooth or a lame footunreliable in times of trouble.

Instead, we will be faithful, strong, and trustworthy.

Put on purity of heart and sincere love today!
