Proverbs 21:20:
“A house divided against itself cannot stand.”
TL;DR: Your family is your team. Instead of fighting against each other, practice patience, kindness, and understanding. A house divided will fall—but unity strengthens everyone.
Raising three boys meant constant competition. Even something as simple as brushing their teeth could turn into a battle for victory.
I had to remind them:
“We are on the same team. Right now, we’re on the ‘get to school on time’ team.”
I would tell them:
“In this house, we treat each other with patience, kindness, and understanding. What part of being mean to your brother reflects that?”
Of course, they always had an excuse—a reason why the fight just had to happen. But as their mom, it was my job to teach them that being a good teammate mattered.
Sadly, many families forget they’re on the same team.
As a divorced mom, I can admit that one of my biggest mistakes was forgetting that my husband and I were supposed to be teammates.
A house divided against itself will fall.
If we’re constantly working against each other instead of with each other, relationships break down. Whether in marriage, parenting, or friendships, we need to remember that unity matters.
Today, practice patience, kindness, and understanding.
Be a good teammate in your home. Look for solutions, not battles. Choose love over division.
Strong families are built on teamwork—let’s strengthen ours today!
