Believe — What True Belief Looks Like in Your Daily Life (John 5 Devotional)

John 5:38
“Nor does His word dwell in you, for you do not believe the one He sent.”

John 5:44
“How can you believe if you accept praise from one another, yet make no effort to obtain the praise that comes from the only God?”

TL;DR:

True belief is not seasonal — it’s daily trust. You stop striving for human approval and start resting in the God who is enough.

Just believe.
This is the Christmas word you see everywhere — on signs, mugs, pillows, ornaments.
But what does “believe” really look like lived out?

If you truly believe, why do you still worry?
Why do you still try to control outcomes?
Why do you still crave human approval more than God’s?

Belief is trust.
Belief is rest.
Belief is confidence in the One God sent.

When your heart is chasing praise from people, belief gets pushed aside. Human approval becomes the goal, and God becomes an afterthought. But when you seek the praise that comes from God alone, you step back into true belief — steady, peaceful, anchored.

Christmas isn’t just a season.
It’s a posture of the heart.
It’s year-round when you BELIEVE — fully, deeply, surrendered.

Today, ask yourself honestly:
Am I believing? Or am I performing for people?

Return to belief.
Return to rest.
Return to Him.
