Bind Love and Faithfulness to Your Heart

Proverbs 3:3
“Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart.”

TL;DR:
When you choose love and faithfulness—regardless of how others respond—you begin to love like Jesus loves: purely, steadily, and from a healed heart.

You often love people when they love you back. You stay faithful when you feel appreciated, understood, or treated well. This verse gently challenges that kind of conditional love.

God calls you to something deeper. Love and faithfulness are not meant to be reactions to others’ behavior; they are meant to be part of who you are. When you bind them to your heart, they guide your responses even when relationships are difficult, disappointing, or painful.

Loving like Jesus means choosing love even when it costs you. It means remaining faithful in character, even when others are inconsistent. Sometimes that love requires distance—not bitterness. You can love from afar with a pure heart, without enabling harm or tolerating what isn’t healthy.

Binding love and faithfulness to your heart doesn’t mean staying where you’re mistreated. It means refusing to let resentment, offense, or hardness take root in you. It means letting Christ shape how you love—steadfast, gracious, and free.

Love and faithfulness truly are a beautiful way to live.
