Confess and Believe. Yes, It’s That Simple

Romans 10:9-11
“That if you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. As the Scripture says, ‘Anyone who trusts in Him will never be put to shame.’”

tl;dr
Salvation is not earned through perfection. It is received through faith in Jesus Christ. Confess, believe, and trust in Him.

Confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, and you will be saved.

Can it really be this simple?

Yes, it can.

The Gospel is beautifully simple. We often want to make it more complicated than it is. We think we need to clean ourselves up first, try harder, be better, or somehow earn God’s approval.

But Scripture says salvation comes through faith in Jesus Christ.

Believe.

Trust.

Receive.

Jesus did the work on the cross. He paid the price for sin once and for all. Through His death and resurrection, those who believe are justified, saved, and welcomed into God’s family.

What incredible news.

Sometimes the hardest part is not believing God can forgive others. The hardest part is believing He can forgive us. We remember our failures, our weaknesses, and our mistakes. We replay them over and over and wonder if we are good enough.

The answer is that none of us are good enough on our own.

That is why Jesus came.

Romans 10 reminds us that anyone who trusts in Him will never be put to shame.

Anyone.

That promise is for all who believe.

So stop beating yourself up.

Stop trying to earn what Jesus has already purchased.

Confess with your mouth.

Believe in your heart.

Trust in Jesus.

Yes, it really is that simple.
