Ecclesiastes 4:12
“Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.”
A cord of three strands is strong—husband, wife, and Jesus.
That’s how marriage is meant to stand.
When you don’t invite Jesus into the center of a relationship, fear takes over.
Fear of being honest.
Fear of conflict.
Fear of being vulnerable.
That fear leads you to complain to others instead of lovingly confronting the person you’re actually committed to.
And the moment you take your frustrations to outsiders first, you loosen the bond inside.
You stop treating your spouse like your teammate and start treating them like an adversary.
That pattern breaks hearts and breaks homes.
Perfect love casts out fear.
When you remember Jesus is in the room, you gain courage to speak truth with gentleness.
You gain courage to confront issues without attacking the person.
You gain courage to work as a team rather than opponents.
Every relationship—marriage, family, friendship—needs that same courage:
Kind confrontation.
Truth in love.
Humility.
And an awareness that Jesus is right there with you.
Walk in your threefold cord today.
Let His presence give you courage, and let His love shape your kindness.
