Do What You Can in the Midst of What You Can’t

Ephesians 1:11
“In Him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of Him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of His will.”

Ephesians 1:18
“I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, in order that you may know the hope to which He has called you, the riches of His glorious inheritance in the saints.”

TL;DR:

God works all things according to His plan. Even when we face limitations, we can focus on what we can do, trust His purpose, and find renewed hope and strength in Him.

He works everything out. That truth has been a lifeline for me in this season of healing. With a broken leg and slow recovery, there are many things I can’t do right now. But instead of focusing on my limitations, I’m learning to focus on His purpose and His glory.

One of my friends reminded me of something simple yet profound: “It’ll be okay.” Not because everything goes my way, but because God is always at work—shaping His plan, not mine, for His glory, not mine.

Another friend shared that watching me “do what I can in the midst of what I can’t” has encouraged her in her own health battle. That blessed me deeply, because it reminded me that even in weakness, God can use us to inspire and strengthen others.

When I fix the eyes of my heart on God’s purpose, I find peace, determination, and even joy in the process. My circumstances may not change immediately, but my perspective does. And that’s where hope begins to grow.

Today, whatever you’re facing, I pray you will do what you can, entrust the rest to God, and let Him enlighten the eyes of your heart with His eternal hope.
