Yesterday, I accidentally ran over my laptop with my car.
Yes, really.
Earlier that day, my renter had seen it in the garage and thought about sending me a picture, but he hesitated—he didn’t want to cause me anxiety. The irony? I was already anxious about not knowing where my laptop was.
When I got home and saw it crushed on the garage floor, my first reaction was relief. At least I knew where it was. Even though I was concerned earlier in the day, I had chosen to be present and enjoy time with my grandson rather than let worry steal my joy.
This situation reminded me of Philippians 4:11-13, where Paul talks about learning to be content in all circumstances—whether in abundance or in need. Contentment isn’t about having everything go our way; it’s about trusting God no matter what.
When I let anxiety take over, I start to grumble and complain—which doesn’t just ruin my day, but can also bring down those around me. That’s why Philippians 2:14 tells us:
“Do everything without grumbling or arguing.”
The secret to living without grumbling? Contentment.
If I want to reflect the love of Jesus, I need to learn to be content in all things—not just when life is smooth, but even when my laptop is crushed under my car tires.
Be inspired today to trust God, let go of anxiety, and choose contentment. Don’t let worry rob you—or anyone else—of joy.
