Ecclesiastes 3:22:
“So I saw that there is nothing better for a man than to enjoy his work, because that is his lot. For who can bring him to see what will happen after him?”
TL;DR: Your attitude toward work shapes your life. Choose to find joy in what you do—whether it’s a career, housework, or daily tasks—because life is too short to live in frustration.
We spend so much of our lives working. If we choose to be upset about our work, we are choosing to be upset about our lives.
Ecclesiastes 3:22 gives us a simple but powerful truth:
Enjoy your work, because it is your lot.
I am retired now from an amazing career, and I’ve had my share of challenges along the way. But I learned early on that what I focus on matters. Instead of dwelling on the difficulties, I chose to focus on what was right—the things that brought me joy and fulfillment.
Even in retirement, I still have to be intentional about how I approach my daily responsibilities.
I don’t always feel like cleaning toilets or washing floors.
But I do enjoy having a clean home.
So, I choose to enjoy the work because I love the end result.
Attitude is altitude.
How we approach our work—whether in our careers, homes, or relationships—determines how much joy we experience in life.
Today, choose to enjoy your work.
Choose to enjoy your life.
Find purpose in what you do, and live with gratitude!
