Family First: Putting Faith into Practice

1 Timothy 5:4
“But if a widow has children or grandchildren, these should learn first of all to put their religion into practice by caring for their own family and so repaying their parents and grandparents, for this is pleasing to God.”

TL;DR:

True faith shows up in how we love and care for our family. Before we try to change the world, let’s start by living out faith in action at home—because caring for family is pleasing to God.

Put your faith into practice, for this is pleasing to God!

Scripture tells us that faith without works is dead. We aren’t saved by our works—but our good works are the beautiful evidence of our faith. When we care for others, especially our own family, we bring joy to God’s heart.

It isn’t always easy. We all feel busy, pulled in a hundred directions. Yet when we slow down long enough to truly connect—to visit, listen, and love—we’re living out the gospel in the most personal way possible.

I often forget that God is watching and present in every moment. When I forget, selfishness and impatience creep in. But when I remember that He’s right beside me, giving me strength to serve and love, my heart softens. It becomes easier to let go of my own agenda and focus on caring for my family—the very people He’s entrusted to me.

I’m so thankful for my family members who have taken time, energy, and resources to show me God’s love through their care and compassion. Their faith in action inspires me daily.

I have a saying:
👉 “You can’t go save the world when your own family is broken.”

Imagine how beautiful the world would be if each of us reached inward first—healing, loving, and serving our own families—before reaching outward. That’s how we truly change the world, one heart and home at a time.
