Feeling Judgy? A Lesson in Humility and Understanding

Romans 2:1:
“You, therefore, have no excuse, you who pass judgment on someone else, for whatever point you judge the other, you are condemning yourself, because you who pass judgment do the same things.”

TL;DR: When we judge others, we often find ourselves in the same situation later. God humbles us and teaches us to lead with grace, not judgment.

Do you ever feel “judgy”?

I have—more times than I’d like to admit.

And almost every time, I later find myself in the exact situation I was judging someone else for.

God is good at keeping us humble when we seek His Word.

I remember being judgmental about someone who put their dog down before leaving on vacation.

At the time, I thought, How could they do that?

But now, I find myself in a similar situation.

I have seven days before I leave town.
I thought my beautiful dog would have passed by now, but she hasn’t.

She struggles to stand and has issues with bathroom stuff, but she doesn’t appear to be in pain. My vet agrees.

Many people have told me, “Put her down.”

But I’m struggling.

She was born the day I quit drinking, so this is especially hard for me.

And now, as I wrestle with this decision, I understand the woman I once judged.

I now see that it wasn’t selfishness—it was love. She didn’t want her dog to go through end-of-life struggles without her.

God is present in our everyday moments.

He humbles us.
He teaches us to lead with compassion.
He reminds us to see others with grace.

Today, may you see Him in your moments too.
