Psalm 55:12-14
“If an enemy were insulting me, I could endure it; if a foe were raising himself against me, I could hide from him. But it is you, a man like myself, my companion, my close friend, with whom I once enjoyed sweet fellowship as we walked with the throng at the house of God.”
TL;DR:
Human rejection cuts deep, especially from those we love. But God never rejects us—He is always with us, even in the pain. When friends walk away, Jesus remains faithful.
Rejection hurts. Especially when it comes from someone close—a trusted friend, a companion, someone we once shared sweet fellowship with. Like David in Psalm 55, I’ve felt the sting of that loss, and honestly, I tend to internalize rejection, questioning my own worth.
But when I do that, I’m putting human rejection above the truth of God’s love for me. And how ridiculous that is—because God has already declared my worth. I was created on purpose for His purpose.
Even Jesus faced rejection from His closest friends. Peter denied Him three times, and Judas betrayed Him for thirty pieces of silver. If our Savior endured that kind of heartbreak, then we can find comfort knowing He understands ours.
The truth is, people come and go. Some are in our lives for a reason and a season. But one thing remains unshakable: Jesus never leaves, never rejects, never abandons us. His promise stands—“I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
So today, if you’re wrestling with rejection, let it draw you closer to the One who will never turn away. Trust Him, even in the pain. His love is steadfast, and His presence is forever.
