Proverbs 21:3:
“To do what is right and just is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice.”Proverbs 21:21:
“He who pursues righteousness and love finds life, prosperity, and honor.”Proverbs 21:23:
“He who guards his mouth and his tongue keeps himself from calamity.”
TL;DR: Life will tangle you up, but shake it off and keep going! We are saved by grace, not by works, but because of that grace, we strive to finish strong in faith and righteousness.
Reading Proverbs 21 today, I felt convicted. Sometimes, doing the right thing feels like a sacrifice. Have you ever asked someone, “Do you think you’ll go to heaven?” and heard the response, “I hope so—I’m a pretty good person.”?
When I read Proverbs 21, I’m reminded how not good I am on my own. But here’s the good news:
We are saved by grace, not by works!
Because of Jesus, we want to do good—not to earn salvation, but to honor Him.
Yesterday, at my ski jouringrace, my dog Tonto and I got tangled up with the other dogs. We eventually broke free, pushed forward, and still finished strong.
We missed the podium by 4 seconds, and the tangle had cost us at least 10 seconds—but in the long run, who cares about placement? The real victory was in finishing well.
That’s exactly how life works. We will get tangled up. We will face setbacks. We will fail. But what matters is that we get back up, shake it off, and keep moving forward in Christ.
Whatever may tangle you up today, don’t let it stop you. Trust in God’s grace and finish strong!
Thanks for your prayers—I feel them! Please continue to pray for me and my fellow Birkie skiers that we all stay safe and finish strong!
