Isaiah 43:18-19
“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland.”
TL;DR:
The past can trap us in regret, but God calls us to let go. He is always doing something new—making a way forward, even in what feels like a wasteland.
Forget it! Let it go!
I often find myself replaying my accident in my mind, thinking, “Why didn’t I just let go?” Yesterday, a friend reminded me how silly it is to waste time on those thoughts. They don’t change a thing—they only steal peace.
If I’m honest, I’ve done this with many past situations. I replay conversations, rethink choices, and imagine how things could have gone differently. But all that does is drain my energy and keep me stuck in regret.
Isaiah 43 reminds us that our time and energy are better invested in the here and now. God is doing a new thing—right now! He makes streams in the desert and a way in the wasteland.
Instead of dwelling on the past, I want to pursue what God has for me today—and trust Him for the future.
So, if you’re stuck in regret or replaying the past, hear this encouragement: let it go. God has something new for you, and His plans are always better than what’s behind you.
