Get the Sap: Stay Connected to the Vine and Bear Fruit

John 15:4-5
“Remain in me, and I will remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me. I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.”

TL;DR: When we stay connected to Jesus, we draw strength, peace, and purpose—just like a branch draws sap from the vine. Fear and anxiety often reveal that we’ve stopped fully trusting. Get the sap—remain in Him.

There’s a reason Jesus used the image of a vine and its branches: a branch can’t survive on its own. It withers, it dries up, and it becomes fruitless.

In John 15, Jesus reminds us that He is the vine, and we are the branches. The source of our fruitfulness, our peace, and even our stability is entirely dependent on staying connected to Him.

When we allow fear and anxiety to take root, it’s a signal:
We may be trying to operate apart from the Vine.
We’re seeing life from a limited, human perspective—while God sees the whole picture.

He is pruning, shaping, and refining us—not to hurt us, but to help us bear more fruit. That process can be uncomfortable. But it’s in the pruning that growth happens.

Remaining in Him means fully trusting His timing and His plan, even when it doesn’t look or feel the way we hoped.

The incredible thing about God?
Even when we cut ourselves off—through doubt, distraction, or self-reliance—He graciously reconnects us. He restores. He revives.

But why wait until you’re withering?

Stay attached now. Draw from the Vine. Get the sap.

Let His Spirit fill you with life, energy, strength, and direction. Let Him carry the weight you were never meant to hold.

Today, check your connection.
Are you remaining in Him?
Are you drawing from the source that never runs dry?
