God Is Sovereign Over Both Good Times and Hard Times

Ecclesiastes 7:14, 21
“When times are good, be happy; but when times are bad, consider this: God has made the one as well as the other. Therefore, no one can discover anything about their future…
Do not pay attention to every word people say, or you may hear your servant cursing you—for you know in your heart that many times you yourself have cursed others.”

TL;DR:
God is at work in both your good seasons and your hard ones—let His wisdom, not people’s words, shape your heart.

When life feels good, you’re invited to enjoy it with gratitude. When life feels hard, you’re invited to pause and consider what God may be forming in you. This verse reminds you that neither season is wasted. God is present in both.

Often, it’s the difficult seasons that deepen your wisdom, humility, and dependence on Him. Growth usually comes through pressure, not comfort. At the same time, you’re warned not to give too much weight to every word spoken about you. People speak out of frustration, pain, or immaturity—including you at times.

If you let words define you, they will drain your peace. God’s Word tells you the truth: you are enough through the finished work of Jesus. His voice steadies you when praise inflates you and when criticism wounds you.

Today, whether you’re in a season of joy or struggle, let God’s truth strengthen you. Trust that He is sovereign over both—and that He is using all of it for your good.
