We all, like sheep, have gone astray. Every one of us has turned to our own way at some point. That is the human condition. The good news is that falling does not have to define the future.
Okay, so there has been wandering off the path… get back on the horse!
We all sin and fall short of the glory of God. The mistake is not falling. The mistake is staying down in shame and refusing to get back up again. Through Jesus Christ there is forgiveness, restoration, and strength to keep moving forward.
Thomas Edison once said he did not fail 9,999 times making the light bulb. He simply learned 9,999 ways how not to make one. That perspective matters. Perseverance changes people.
Romans 5:3-5 reminds us that perseverance builds character, and character builds hope, and hope does not disappoint us. Every time there is a choice to shake off failure and try again God is doing something deeper in the heart.
Yes, there will still be moments of turning toward selfish desires and personal ways. But the more there is surrender to God, the more His desires begin replacing old desires. Over time, obedience becomes less forced and more natural. God’s way slowly becomes your way.
That transformation is part of the sanctification process. It is not instant perfection. It is daily surrender.
Keep getting back up.
Keep trying again.
Keep turning toward Jesus.
His way will become your way.
