Grief and Emptiness vs. Faith and Trust: Holding On to Hope in Loss

John 10:27-30
“My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. 28 I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand. 29 My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand. 30 I and the Father are one.”

Romans 8:18
“I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.”

TL;DR:

Grief and emptiness are real, but they don’t cancel faith and trust. In times of loss, cling to the promise that no one—not even death—can snatch us from God’s hand. See your loved one in Heaven, whole and glorified, and let His peace fill the ache.

These are the words of Jesus Himself:
“No one can snatch us out of our Father’s hand.”

What a powerful, hope-filled promise.

Right now, a couple of my dear friends are preparing to go home to Heaven. And though I have faith, I’m also carrying the heavy weight of grief. Let’s be honest—grief and emptiness rival faith and trust in the hardest of moments. It’s painful to watch someone we love slipping away. It’s hard to see the goodness of God through the tears.

But if we truly believe what we say we believe, then we can know—without a doubt—that when our loved one leaves their earthly body, they will be more alive than ever in the presence of Jesus.

Can you imagine the glory?

A dear pastor once gave me this wisdom:

“When you’re missing your beloved, picture them in Heaven—smiling, joyful, and whole in their new glorified body.”

That image brings me peace. It doesn’t remove the grief, but it transforms the pain into hope. Because no one—not even death—can take us from our Father’s loving hands.

So if you’re grieving today, hold onto this:
The glory that awaits far outweighs the sorrow of now.
God loves your beloved even more than you do.
And His promise is eternal life—a home where no tears, no pain, and no separation ever remain.

Hold onto hope. Let the peace of God rule your heart. Keep the faith. 🙏❤️😇
