His Gifts, Your Purpose

James 1:16-17
“Don’t be deceived, my dear brothers. Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.”

tl;dr
Every gift comes from God and has a purpose. True fulfillment comes from using those gifts for His glory rather than taking them for granted.

Every good and perfect gift comes from God.

What a wonderful truth to reflect on.

Today I am thinking about the gifts God has given me. Some are obvious, while others are easy to overlook because they have been part of my life for so long. As I consider them, I find myself asking an important question:

Am I being a good steward of these gifts, or am I taking them for granted and simply doing my own thing?

God does not give gifts by accident. He gives each of us abilities, talents, experiences, opportunities, and even unique personality traits for a reason. Those gifts are not meant merely for personal enjoyment. They are meant to be used for His glory and His purpose.

It is easy to spend time wishing for someone else’s gifts while neglecting the ones already entrusted to us. Yet God knew exactly what He was doing when He created each of us. He equipped us for the work He has prepared for us to do.

The question is not whether gifts have been given.

The question is whether those gifts are being used faithfully.

Today is a good day to pause and take inventory. What gifts has God supplied? How are they being used? Are they drawing others closer to Him? Are they making a difference in the lives of those around us?

Every good and perfect gift comes from above.

May there be wisdom to recognize those gifts, gratitude for receiving them, and courage to use them for His glory and His purpose.
