Psalm 51:10-12
“Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. 11 Do not cast me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me. 12 Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.”
TL;DR:
Grief creates emptiness that only Jesus can fill. When we hold onto pain more tightly than we hold onto God, we lose sight of hope. Let Him restore your heart today and bring back the joy of His salvation. Even in grief, there is light.
Create in me a pure heart, O Lord…
That’s my cry today—and maybe it’s yours too. In the midst of grief, when the pain feels all-consuming, it’s easy to place sorrow above the Savior. I’ve done it. I’ve looked at the emptiness and somehow believed that staring at the pain would help me heal.
But it never does.
Only Jesus can fill the hole grief leaves behind.
He’s the only one big enough. The only one gentle enough. The only one close enough to meet us right where we are—right in the middle of the sadness.
When we’re hurting, our flesh craves comfort—sometimes from things that don’t help or even hurt us more. But what our hearts truly need is restoration from the Lord. We need Him to renew us, lift us, hold us, and breathe hope into our darkness.
So today I’m praying:
Dear Lord, fill my heart and the hearts of others who are walking through grief. Create in us clean hearts. Restore to us the joy of Your salvation. And grant us willing spirits to sustain us through this season of sorrow.
Let that be your prayer too.
Even in your grief, you are not alone.
Even in the dark, His light still shines.
Even through the tears, there is hope.
I hope this brings you comfort today. 😇🙏❤️
