1 Peter 5:6-7
“Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that He may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.”
tl;dr
Humility brings peace because it trusts God’s control. Pride creates anxiety because it tries to control what was never meant to be controlled.
God’s way versus our way. Humility versus pride.
When I peacefully accept what is, trusting that God is still at work, I am walking in humility. That does not mean I have to like every circumstance or understand every outcome. It means I trust that God sees what I cannot and that His timing is better than mine.
When I fill myself with pride, trying to control everything, fix everything, or change things I simply cannot change, anxiety takes over. The harder I grip, the less peace I have.
That makes this verse so powerful.
“Humble yourselves… Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.”
What a beautiful connection between humility and peace. Anxiety often grows when I start acting like everything depends on me. Humility remembers that I am not God. I am not responsible for carrying what only He can carry.
Scripture also reminds us that God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble. Pride says, “I know best.” Humility says, “God, I trust You.”
There is so much freedom in surrender.
Be inspired today to accept the things that cannot be changed, change the things that can, and ask God for the wisdom to know the difference.
Walk in humility instead of pride.
Cast anxiety on Him.
He truly cares.
