If I Perish, I Perish — Courageous Faith When Fear Is Real

Esther 4:16
“Go, gather together all the Jews who are in Susa, and fast for me. Do not eat or drink for three days, night or day. I and my maids will fast as you do. When this is done, I will go to the king, even though it is against the law. And if I perish, I perish.”

TL;DR:
When fear is unavoidable, faith chooses obedience anyway. Courage grows when you trust God more than the outcome.

Are you facing something that feels overwhelming right now? Esther was. She stood at a crossroads where obedience could cost her everything. She didn’t rush in emotionally or act out of panic. She prayed. She fasted. She asked others to seek God with her. Then she acted.

Her words weren’t reckless—they were resolved: “If I perish, I perish.”

That is courageous faith. Not confidence in a perfect outcome, but confidence in God’s sovereignty. Sometimes the giant in front of you exists so you can grow—grow in faith, courage, and dependence on God. Avoiding it won’t make it disappear. Facing it with God will change you.

You don’t need to know how everything will turn out. You need to know what God is asking you to do next. Be bold. Be obedient. Do what you know God is calling you to do—after prayer, after surrender, after trust.

And once you step forward, don’t look back.
