Deuteronomy 8:17-18
“You may say to yourself, ‘My power and the strength of my hands have produced this wealth for me.’ But remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you the ability to produce wealth, and so confirms His covenant, which He swore to your forefathers, as it is today.”
tl;dr
Every ability, opportunity, and blessing comes from God. A grateful heart recognizes Him as the source of all good things.
It is easy to believe that success comes from our own strength.
We work hard. We make plans. We accomplish goals. Before long, we can begin to think, “I did this.”
Then Scripture gently reminds us:
“It is He who gives you the ability…”
What a humbling truth.
Every talent, every opportunity, every skill, and every blessing ultimately comes from God. He gives us the abilities we have. He opens doors we could never open on our own. He provides strength for the work He calls us to do.
Do you ever think it is you who makes things happen?
Think again.
God gives each of us unique gifts, abilities, and desires. He invites us to use them faithfully, but we should never forget where they came from.
When we remember that God is the source, gratitude naturally replaces pride. Instead of taking credit for what we have accomplished, we praise the One who made it possible.
Whether the blessing is a career, a family, good health, a ministry, or a special talent, it is all a gift from Him.
Today, pause and thank God for the abilities He has given you. Thank Him for the opportunities He has provided. Thank Him for His faithfulness.
Never forget to give Him the glory.
He is our source in all things.
