Leave Pain, Pursue Peace: Returning to the Lord

Lamentations 3:39-40
“Why should the living complain when punished for their sins? Let us examine our ways and test them, and let us return to the Lord.”

TL;DR:

Discipline is a sign of God’s love. Pain from sin isn’t meant to crush us—it’s meant to turn us back to Him. True peace comes when we repent, leave sin behind, and walk in His light.

Just like we discipline our children because we love them, our Heavenly Father disciplines us for the same reason—because He loves us too much to let us stay stuck in what harms us.

If you’re feeling pain right now because of a wrong choice, don’t mistake it for rejection. That pain is purposeful—it’s a loving push to help you turn from what’s wrong and return to what’s right.

Through faith in Jesus, our eternity is secure. But here and now, our best life comes when we leave the mess of our sinfulness and pursue the peace of God. Happiness on earth isn’t found in indulging sin—it’s found in walking in His light.

So instead of complaining when discipline comes, let’s own our sins, repent, and return to the Lord. His mercy is waiting. His peace is available. And His love never changes.
