Colossians 2:6-7
“So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live in Him, 7 rooted and built up in Him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.”
TL;DR:
When facing medical challenges and emotional exhaustion, stay rooted in Christ, built up in faith, and overflowing with gratitude. These spiritual disciplines help prevent hopelessness and keep you grounded in peace, even when life gets hard.
Life is hard!! Especially when you’re dealing with medical concerns—whether it’s for yourself or the people you love. Recently, I’ve felt that familiar ache of being disheartened and drained. When our physical energy is low, it’s so much harder to stay emotionally and spiritually strong.
There’s an acronym we use in AA: HALT—Hungry, Angry, Lonely, Tired. These four states are danger zones. Hopelessness multiplies when we live there. And when hopelessness grows, backsliding often follows.
One of the best spiritual weapons I’ve found against hopelessness is simple: thanksgiving. Being thankful on purpose. Even in the pain, there’s always—always—something to thank God for. When I focus on gratitude, my heart starts to heal. My perspective starts to shift. It doesn’t erase the pain, but it fills me with a peace that can carry me through it.
Colossians 2 gives us a powerful roadmap: continue to live in Christ, be rooted, built up, strengthened in faith, and overflow with thanksgiving. This is how we stand strong in life’s storms.
Dear Lord,
You know exactly what each of us is facing. You know our health battles, our fears for those we love, and our moments of exhaustion. Help us trust You deeply—as the great healer, the constant provider, the One whose hands are strong enough to carry it all. Let us be anchored in Jesus, holding fast to faith and abounding in gratitude, no matter what the day brings.
There is real power in prayer, my friend. Please say a prayer for my family—and know that I’m praying for yours too. 😇❤️🙏
