People Pleasing vs. God Pleasing: Where Are You Looking for Approval?

Isaiah 40:31 — “But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”

tl;dr: Seeking approval from others leaves us drained and weak, but placing our hope fully in God renews our strength and makes us soar.

I can be a people pleaser and an attention seeker. I look for accolades from others to help me feel good about myself. This people pleasing, this looking for approval from my fellow man, can take the place of looking for approval from God.

If my hope is truly in God, then my focus will be unity with Him above all.

Today, let’s seek God’s “likes” versus man’s. If my confidence is in getting man’s “likes,” I become drained and weak, weary and faint — because those “likes” are fleeting. Only the Lord can provide true strength.

Let’s put all our hope in Him today and soar like eagles.
