Pray First, Act Second: Walking in the Good Works God Prepared for You

Ephesians 2:10
“For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.”

TL;DR: You were created for good works that God already prepared for you. When you’re unsure what to do—or tempted to go the wrong way—pray first. Let God lead your actions through His Spirit.

We are not accidents. We are not wandering aimlessly.
We are God’s workmanship, created on purpose and for a purpose.

Ephesians 2:10 makes it clear—there are good works God already prepared for each of us. They’re not random. They’re not unreachable. But sometimes, in our human nature, we resist them anyway.

Paul understood this struggle when he said,
“Why is it that I do the things I don’t want to do, and don’t do the things I want to do?”

That’s the battle between flesh and spirit—one we all face.

It’s easy to talk ourselves in and out of behaviors based on how we feel, what’s convenient, or what culture approves of. But feelings aren’t a reliable guide. The Holy Spirit is.

And that’s why prayer must come first.

When I pray before acting, I give God space to guide my choices.
I allow His Spirit to lead instead of reacting from emotion or impulse.

Pray first, act second.

Let God bring clarity.
Let Him highlight the good works He’s already lined up for you.
Let Him help you rise above temptation and walk in His ways.

Today and every day—pause, pray, and then move forward.
