Romans 8:8:
“Those controlled by the sinful nature cannot please God.”Psalm 27:14:
“Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.”
TL;DR: Justifying sin leads us down a slippery slope. If we want to please God, we must resist temptation, stay convicted, and rise up in faith.
This verse is short but powerful.
Lately, I have been toying with justifying a behavior I know is against God’s way. The world tells me it’s okay. Culture normalizes it. But deep down, I know better.
Romans 8:8 is a reminder that when I justify sin and continue in it without conviction, I cannot please God.
That truth hits hard.
It feels harsh because, in my flesh, I want to make excuses for the things I don’t want to let go of. But the reality is, that’s a dangerous mindset.
Sin is a slippery slope.
Thank God He is convicting my heart before I go too far.
Moses had the choice to enjoy the passing pleasures of Pharaoh’s house, but instead, he chose to follow God’s will.
If we want to live for Christ, we have to do the same.
✔️ Identify the sin that easily entangles you.
✔️ Resist the devil and stand firm in faith.
✔️ Rise up and walk in holiness.
We all fail in this, but the key is to not harden our hearts.
We cannot pretend we can continue in sin and still be pleasing to God.
Instead, let’s hold onto Psalm 27:14:
“Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.”
God gives us strength to overcome. We just have to choose to rise up!
