Jonah 1:3 “But Jonah ran away from the Lord and headed to Tarshish. He went down to Joppa, where he found a ship bound for that port. After paying the fare, he went aboard and sailed for Tarshish to flee from the Lord.”
TL;DR: We all run from God sometimes — through laziness, wrong choices, or a heart that just isn’t ready to turn around. But God loves us too much to let us stay lost. Run back to Him today.
Have you ever run away from God? I do it all the time.
I know the good God is calling me toward, but sometimes I let spiritual laziness take over. Other times I drift down the wrong path, quietly justifying it in my mind, telling myself what I’m doing is “fine.”
Whether it’s deliberate disobedience or just a slow, careless drift in the wrong direction, an unrepentant heart is a dangerous place to stay. Because the big fish is coming.
That’s the thing about God’s relentless love — He loves each of us far too much to simply let us run. Just like He pursued Jonah across the water, He pursues us in our wandering, our excuses, and our silence.
If you’ve been straying from your faith or avoiding what God is asking of you, be encouraged today. Turning back to God is always an option. It’s never too late to stop running and start returning.
Run to Him today.
